Lumby & Area
Lumby, British Columbia, is a village situated east of Vernon on Highway 6.
Lumby is known as a small community with a big heart, the residents work hard to keep the community healthy and active. In 2016 Lumby reached the final two for Kraft Hockeyville. The town pulled together to get many friends near and far to vote for their team the Lumby Stars and to make improvments to the Pat Duke Memorial Arena.
Lumby is a gateway to recreation, many lakes and camping spots are nearby. Mable Lake and Sugar Lake are only two of the nearby gems. In winter sledding is a major attraction with Park Mountain, the Aberdeen, Graystokes and the Keefer Lake area are a few of the snowmobiling destinations in the area.
Heading east from Lumby is a well known motorcycle touring route, passing Cherryville, through the Monashee Mountains to Fauquier, Arrow Lake and Nakusp. The ups and downs of this winding mountain highway offer an exciting and scenic trip.
The Lumby Valley and area is known all over the world as the Hang Gliding and Paragliding competition capital of Canada. Both Lavington and Lumby have stations to begin hang gliding. These facilities cater to all skill levels from learners to world competitors.
